Heavy Equipment Driving SchoolsLearning to handle heavy equipment is not like learning to drive a car. For one thing, you can't just borrow your mom's 'dozer and take it for a few spins in the parking lot. For another, if you clip another vehicle while parking a leveler, chances are you'll do some major damage. So how does somebody looking to get the experience that he or she needs to get a job in construction actually go about doing it?
One answer is to look into heavy equipment driving schools, like HEOS. With almost ten years of experience under our belts, we here at Heavy Equipment Operating School have spent a fair amount of our professional lives helping men and women get started in this potentially lucrative industry. We offer two different courses, basic and advanced, both of which are packed full of essential skills and knowledge.
The basic class runs for six weeks, and is made up of five day weeks during which the student will work from 6:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the afternoon. A fair amount of this is "classroom time"--an equally large amount, however, is devoted to hands-on experience with a number of different machines. Vehicles covered include dozers, frontloaders, backhoe/loaders, excavators, and rollers and graders.
The advanced course is similar, but adds on an extra three weeks of intensive training. Once students have graduated, they are shepherded into the workplace by HEOS's Job Placement Office. The end result is usually a good, if not perfect fit. If this sounds appealing to you, please call us for more information at 1-800-265-7535.
