Professional Women In ConstructionConstruction is traditionally seen as a "man's profession." In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. These days, the heavy equipment industry is wide open for individuals no matter what their sex. After all, far more important to employers is the level of education and experience that a potential man or woman can bring to their job. That's why there's been an increasing number of professional women in construction.
In order to get this kind of education or experience, you might consider applying to the Heavy Equipment Operating School. For almost a decade now, we here at HEOS have been providing our students with an excellent way to familiarize themselves with and even master machines such as dozers, levelers, and dump trucks. We also give them a range of theoretical skills that will come in useful in their chosen careers.
We offer two different courses. The basic course runs for three weeks, during which students work Monday to Friday, from 6:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the afternoon. Finishing this course, you'll have a basic level of competence with a number of machines, and also know plenty about such class topics as Units of Measurement and Industry Regulations.
Our advanced course adds another three weeks, to make six total. Then, when you've graduated from either program, you can take advantage of our Job Placement Office to try and find an introductory position. If you'd like to get a little of this experience, and make yourself more employable, then please contact us at 1-800-265-7535.
