Where is the Heavy Equipment Operators School of Oregon located?
A.
We are located in Eugene, Oregon. See map of school location in Eugene.
   
Q.
What courses do you offer?
A.
We offer 2 heavy equipment operating courses (Basic and Advanced) and a Class A Commercial Drivers License course.
   
Q.
How long are these courses and what is the tuition for each?
A.

The Basic Course is three weeks long and costs $4995.00
The Advanced Course is six weeks long and costs $6995.00    
The CDL Course is three weeks long and costs $3995.00   

   
Q. What are the normal school hours
A. 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM with an hour off for lunch. 5 hrs are classroom hours and 5 hours are equipment operation.
   
Q.
What are the differences between the three week basic course and the six week advanced course?
A.

The three week course will give you a basic knowledge of the equipment, operation of the equipment, equipment safety and some of the math calculations for excavations. See Basic Course curriculum.
The six week course is a three week continuation of the three week Basic Course. Here you will receive advanced training on what you have learned and go in depth on all phases of operation of heavy equipment. See Advanced Course curriculum

   
Q. Should I take the Basic or Advanced Course?
A. If you have previously operated heavy equipment and want to touch up your skills you may want to take the basic course. If you are new to the industry you should take the Advanced Course.
   
Q. Why should I take the CDL course?
A. A CDL is not necessary to operate heavy equipment, however, you may need to take the equipment from one site to another on a truck and a CDL license is required to drive on public roads. Many contractors require a CDL for employment.

How often do classes start?
A.
New classes start every three weeks. Refer to the class schedule page for the next starting class.
   
Q.
Do I need a valid drivers license?
A.
No, You do not need a valid drivers license for operating heavy equipment.
Yes, You do need a valid Oregon drivers license for the CDL training.
   
Q.
What previous education do I need to enroll.
A.
Although a High School diploma or GED is preferred it is not a requirement.
   
Q.
Is there a place to stay?
A. Yes, Most of our students stay ay the Crosslands and Economy Studios. We also have a list of RV parking and Camping sites. Refer to our Lodging page.

Do you have financial aid?
A.
No, we are not a title IV school.
   
Q.
Are there student loans available?
A.
Yes, The best source of funding is through the Sallie Mae Financial Corporation. You may download the Sallie Mae application from our web site at by going to our Sallie Mae funding page.
   
Q. How do I calculate the loan amounts on the Sallie Mae loan application?
A.

You may borrow 100% of the tuition + 60% of the tuition amount for living expenses.

Do you have job placement?
A.
 Yes, The Placement Office maintains a job list of positions currently available in the industry. We also operate a web site available exclusively for the use of our graduated students and participating employers.
